The Salvation Army Aids First Responders Following Martin Drake Power Plant Fire

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (May 5, 2014) –  The Salvation Army’s emergency disaster services team deployed to provide meals and hydration to first responders following the Martin Drake Power Plant in Colorado Springs. 

 

Just a few blocks from the fire is The Salvation Army’s R.J. Montgomery Center homeless shelter.  The facility is Colorado Springs’only 24/7 emergency shelter and houses an average 187 men, women and children each night.  The Salvation Army worked quickly to evacuate the R.J. Montgomery Center following the outbreak of today’s  fire.  The shelter will remain closed until further notice.
